Create Your First Magic Link
By the end of this tutorial you’ll have created your first Magic Link, shared it (even if just as a test), and know where to check how many people clicked it. All in under ten minutes.
You don’t need to have used Nevent before today. You just need access to your organization’s admin panel.
What a Magic Link is and why it’s worth using
Section titled “What a Magic Link is and why it’s worth using”When you share a long URL, like https://demofest.nevent.es/event/demo-fest-2026-entradas, two bad things happen: it looks messy in your Instagram bio or on a poster, and you don’t know how many people opened it.
A Magic Link solves both problems. Nevent generates a short link, like nevt.link/2h92bh, that redirects to your long URL and counts every click. That way you can find out whether the people who saw your post actually did something.
In this tutorial you’ll create a manual Magic Link, meaning one that you decide when and where to use. There’s no need to attach it to any campaign.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You need a real URL you want to send people to. It could be your event’s tickets page, your social media profile, or any other web address. Have that URL ready before you continue.
Step 1: Open the Magic Links section
Section titled “Step 1: Open the Magic Links section”In Nevent’s side menu, find the Tools section and click Magic links.
A table opens with all the Magic Links in your organization. If you’ve just started, the list might be empty or contain only links generated by the platform. Don’t worry: you’ll add your own in the next step.
Take a look at the table’s columns. You’ll use them later to read your data:
- Destination: the title you set, or the destination URL if you didn’t set a title.
- Source: shows whether you created the link manually, whether it was generated by a campaign, or by the assistant.
- Link: the short
nevt.linkcode. - Total clicks: how many times someone opened that link.
- Used in: how many campaigns that link appears in.
- Last click: when someone last clicked it.
Step 2: Create the Magic Link
Section titled “Step 2: Create the Magic Link”Click the + Create Magic link button, in the top right corner of the screen.
A form opens. Fill in the two main fields:
-
Destination URL (required): paste the long URL you want to redirect to here. It must start with
https://. For example:https://demofest.nevent.es/event/demo-fest-2026-entradas. -
Title: write a name that will help you recognize this link later. Be specific: include the channel where you’ll use it and the event. For example: “Tickets Demo Fest 2026 - Instagram Bio.” Once you have twenty links in the list, a title like that will save you time.
The other fields (expiration date, folders, active URL toggle) are optional and you can leave them as they are for now. The link works without touching them.
Once you’ve filled in the destination URL and the title, click Create Magic link.
Step 3: Find your new link in the list
Section titled “Step 3: Find your new link in the list”After creating the Magic Link, you’re taken back to the list. Your new link appears in the table.
In the Link column you’ll see something like nevt.link/2h92bh. That’s your short URL. The part after the slash (2h92bh) is your link’s unique code.
To build the full URL you’ll share, add https:// in front: https://nevt.link/2h92bh.
Copy that URL and paste it wherever you want: in your Instagram bio, in a WhatsApp message, in the body of an email, or in the description of a YouTube video.
Step 4: Test the link
Section titled “Step 4: Test the link”Before sharing it widely, check that it works. Open your browser, paste the short URL into the address bar, and press enter. You should land on the destination page you set.
That click you just made has already been counted. You’ll see it reflected in the next step.
Step 5: Check the clicks
Section titled “Step 5: Check the clicks”Go back to Tools > Magic links in the Nevent panel.
Find your link in the table. In the Total clicks column you should now see at least 1 (the one you just made yourself while testing).
For more detail, click the Expand detail button that appears at the end of your link’s row. This unfolds more information about that link.
You can also click your link’s title to open its full profile. Inside you’ll find:
- The Summary section, with the all-time total of clicks, the short URL, and the destination URL.
- The Analytics section, with time-range filters (last 24 hours, last 7 days, last 30 days or last 90 days) and country and device data.
Result
Section titled “Result”You now have a working Magic Link. Every time someone opens that link, the counter goes up. You don’t need to do anything else for the data to come in.
From now on you can create one link per channel (one for Instagram, another for email, another for the event poster) and compare which one gets the most response from your audience. With that information, you can distribute your next campaign where it actually works.
Next step
Section titled “Next step”Once you’re comfortable with manual Magic Links, you can explore how Nevent generates them automatically when you send an email campaign. In that case, each contact receives a personalized link and you can know exactly who clicked, not just how many.
See the guide Magic Links: Shorten Links and Track Clicks to see every option available in the list and in each link’s detail view.
