Create Your First Subscription
Welcome to Nevent. In this tutorial you’ll create your first subscription list from start to finish.
A subscription is a list your fans join voluntarily to get news from you: the opening of sales, the lineup, festival updates. You don’t need to have sold a single ticket to start capturing subscribers.
By the end of this tutorial you’ll have an active subscription, understand what the law requires to capture it, and know where to see who has signed up.
Estimated time: 10-15 minutes.
Prerequisites: access to the Nevent platform with editing permissions in your organization.
Part 1: Understand what a subscription is in Nevent
Section titled “Part 1: Understand what a subscription is in Nevent”Before clicking on anything, it’s worth knowing what you’re about to create.
In Nevent, a subscription is a list identified by a name. Each list has a status (active or inactive) and a subscriber count. People join through a form that you publish on your website or share through other channels.
The main subscriptions screen shows you all your organization’s lists in a table with five columns: Name, Status, Subscribers, Date, and Actions.
That’s all you need to know for now. Let’s move on to the first real step.
Part 2: Complete the legal details (required)
Section titled “Part 2: Complete the legal details (required)”Nevent won’t let you create a subscription until your organization has two pieces of legal information on record:
- Legal business name: your company’s or association’s legal name.
- Privacy policy URL: the web address where your fans can read how you handle their data.
This data is legally required: when someone subscribes, Nevent displays it on the form so the user knows who’s managing their information.
If you go into the Subscriptions section and see a notice at the top that says “Missing tenant legal details,” that’s the sign you need to complete this step before continuing. The “Create” button will appear disabled until you do.
How to fill in the legal details
Section titled “How to fill in the legal details”-
In the notice, click the Complete legal details link. This takes you directly to the legal settings screen, under Settings > Legal. You can also get there manually from your organization’s settings menu.
-
Fill in the Legal business name field with your organization’s legal name, exactly as it appears on official documents. For example: “Festivales del Norte, S.L.” or “Asociación Cultural Ritmo.”
-
Fill in the Privacy policy URL field with the full address of your website’s privacy page. It must start with
https://. If you don’t have a published privacy policy yet, you’ll need to create one before you can use subscriptions. -
Save the changes.
-
Go back to the Subscriptions section. The notice will have disappeared and the Create button will be enabled.
Part 3: Create the subscription
Section titled “Part 3: Create the subscription”With the legal details complete, you can now create your first list.
Open the Subscriptions section
Section titled “Open the Subscriptions section”In the left side menu, find the Audience block and click Subscriptions. You’ll see the list of all your organization’s subscriptions.
Click the Create button (top right corner). The creation wizard opens.
Wizard step 1: Basic information
Section titled “Wizard step 1: Basic information”The wizard asks for the subscription’s name. Write something that will help you identify this list later: for example, “Website Newsletter 2025” or “Summer Festival Fans.” This name is internal; your fan won’t see it.
The description and folders are optional. If this is your first subscription, you can leave them blank and move on.
Once you’ve written the name, click Next.
Wizard step 2: Form fields
Section titled “Wizard step 2: Form fields”Here you define what data you’ll ask each person who subscribes.
The Email field is already included and can’t be removed: it’s the minimum data Nevent needs to send campaigns.
To start, add at least First name. That way you’ll be able to personalize the messages you send: instead of “Hi,” you’ll be able to write “Hi María,”.
Click Next once you have the fields you want.
Wizard step 3: Visual supplements
Section titled “Wizard step 3: Visual supplements”In this last step you can customize the form’s colors, typography, and spacing. If you prefer, select I’ll do it later: the form is created with the default design and you can adjust it at any time.
Click Create subscription.
Nevent creates the list and takes you to its management panel. The subscription now exists and has Active status.
Part 4: Check that everything works
Section titled “Part 4: Check that everything works”Before installing the form on your website, take a minute to explore the panel of the subscription you just created.
The panel has several sections in the side menu: Summary, General, Fields, Appearance, Automations, Subscribers, and Installation.
Click Summary. You’ll see three counters: total form views, subscribers captured, and conversion rate. Right now they’re at zero, because no one has seen the form yet. That’s correct.
Click Subscribers. The list will be empty. When someone subscribes, they’ll appear here with their email, name (if you asked for it), status, and subscription date.
Everything looks good. The subscription exists and is active.
Part 5: Publish the form on your website
Section titled “Part 5: Publish the form on your website”A subscription with no published form can’t receive anyone. The last step is putting the form where your fans can see it.
-
In the subscription panel’s side menu, click Installation.
-
You’ll see a snippet of HTML code. Click Copy code.
-
Paste that code into your website:
- In WordPress: add a “Custom HTML” or “Code” block on the page where you want the form to show, and paste the code there.
- In Webflow: use the “Embed” component and paste the code inside it.
- In Wix: in the page editor, add “HTML Code” and paste the code.
- On any other website: paste the snippet inside the
<body>of your HTML.
-
Publish the changes on your website.
The form appears on that page. Anyone who fills it in will be registered as a subscriber in Nevent.
Result
Section titled “Result”You’ve completed the tutorial. Here’s what you’ve accomplished:
- You completed your organization’s legal details (legal business name and privacy policy), which are legally required.
- You created an active subscription with a name and defined fields.
- You learned to find it in the panel and read its basic metrics.
- You published the form on your website to start capturing subscribers.
When you go back to the Subscriptions section, your list will appear in the table with Active status and its subscriber count updating as fans join.
What to do next
Section titled “What to do next”With the subscription up and running, these are the natural next steps:
- Adjust the form’s design. Go to the Appearance section of the subscription panel to change colors, typography, and the text your fans see (title, description, button text).
- Send your first campaign. Once you have at least one subscriber, create an email campaign in Nevent and use your subscriber list as the audience.
- Create a second subscription for another channel. If you have several festivals or events, you can have one subscription per event and keep the audiences separate.
To learn the details of each section of the subscription panel, see the guide Create a Subscription Form, where you’ll find detailed instructions on fields, appearance, automations, and installation.
