Link tracking and chatbot performance

When your assistant recommends an event or a page from your documentation, it can link with a measurable short link instead of the bare URL. That way you know how many times the chatbot pushes toward a sale and how many of those links actually get clicked.

In this guide you’ll see how to turn on link tracking in the chatbot configuration and how to read the Assistant performance page. About 5 minutes.

In the side menu, inside the Chatbot section, go to Configuration and open the Tracked links tab.

You’ll find three switches you can turn on independently:

  • Sales links: event recommendations use a stable short link per event, with the chatbot’s campaign parameters. Lets you count clicks per event.
  • Per-conversation attribution: adds an identifier for the conversation that generated it to each link. Enables conversational CTR and the “Push to sale” block on the performance page.
  • Documentation links: also wraps links coming from your knowledge base (schedules, rules, FAQs) with the same attribution.

Each switch saves instantly, with no confirmation button needed.

Step 2: Check the Assistant performance page

Section titled “Step 2: Check the Assistant performance page”

In the side menu, inside Chatbot, click Performance. The page opens on the Push to sale block, which summarizes what the links the assistant places in the conversation generate.

With the 7 days, 30 days and 90 days buttons you choose the period to analyze. The page works with four indicators:

  • Recommendations with link: how many times the assistant offered a link.
  • Clicks from chat: clicks that came from the conversation, separating human clicks from automated ones.
  • Conversations that clicked: what percentage of conversations that received a recommendation ended with a click.
  • Other clicks: clicks on shared or old links, which don’t count toward the indicators above.

Below, a table by destination shows the link type, the short URL, the number of recommendations, the clicks and the date of the last click.

Also check what your bot couldn’t resolve

The most useful data point isn’t always the one that’s going up. Go to the inbox and look for conversations marked as Escalated, or the ones with an agent In progress. Open them and read what people were asking.

That’s, literally, what your bot still needs to learn, in your audience’s own words. The fix is almost always simple: add that answer to your reference documents or instructions, so it already has it next time.

You now have tracking turned on and know where to see your assistant’s impact. Every time the chatbot recommends an event, that link gets measured and shows up in the Push to sale block, so you can check whether your assistant is driving people toward a purchase.
