Subscriptions Reference
What a subscription is
Section titled “What a subscription is”A subscription in Nevent is a voluntary opt-in list. Fans join explicitly, for example through a form embedded on your website, to receive communications from your organization.
Each subscription is independent: it has its own name, its own subscriber count, and its own status. You can have several active subscriptions at the same time, for example one per festival or communication channel.
Subscriptions are managed under Audience > Subscriptions.
Prerequisites for creating a subscription
Section titled “Prerequisites for creating a subscription”Before you can create any subscription, your organization must have two pieces of data filled in under the legal section of the settings:
| Required data | Description |
|---|---|
| Legal business name | The legal name of the entity responsible for data processing. Appears on the subscription form and in the emails fans receive. |
| Privacy policy URL | The web address of your privacy policy. Nevent links it in the form so the fan can consult it before subscribing. |
While either of these two details is missing, Nevent shows a notice at the top of the Subscriptions section and disables the create button. The notice includes the Complete legal details link, which takes you directly to the legal settings screen (/settings/legal).
These requirements are a matter of legal compliance: they identify who’s responsible for the data processing and ensure the fan knows the privacy policy before giving their consent.
Subscriptions table
Section titled “Subscriptions table”The main Subscriptions screen shows all of your organization’s subscriptions in a table. The search box at the top filters by name.
Columns
Section titled “Columns”| Column | Content |
|---|---|
| Name | The subscription’s internal name. Seen only by the organization’s team, not the fan. |
| Status | The subscription’s current status. Possible values: Active or Inactive. |
| Subscribers | Total number of people signed up to that subscription. |
| Date | Date and time the subscription was created, in DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM format. |
| Actions | Button that lets you change the subscription’s status (activate or deactivate). |
Pagination
Section titled “Pagination”The table paginates results. The selector at the bottom lets you choose how many records are shown per page. The default value is 20.
Subscription statuses
Section titled “Subscription statuses”A subscription can be in one of these two statuses:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | The subscription is operational. The form accepts new sign-ups and the subscription can be used in marketing campaigns. |
| Inactive | The subscription doesn’t accept new sign-ups. Existing subscribers are kept but the list is paused. |
The status is changed from the Actions column of the main table, with the activate or deactivate button.
Fields of a subscription’s panel
Section titled “Fields of a subscription’s panel”Opening a specific subscription, the left side menu gives access to that form’s management sections. The available sections are:
| Section | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Summary | Form metrics: total views, subscribers captured, and conversion rate. |
| General | The form’s name, description, and folders. |
| Fields | Fields the form asks the visitor for (email always present, the rest optional). |
| Appearance | Colors, typography, spacing, title, subtitle, and button text. |
| Automations | Automatic assignment of folders and custom fields to each new subscriber. |
| Subscribers | List of people signed up: email, name, subscription status, and registration date. |
| Installation | HTML code to embed the form on an external website. |
Fields of the subscribers list
Section titled “Fields of the subscribers list”Inside the Subscribers section of each subscription, each row in the list shows:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| The subscriber’s email address. | |
| Name | The subscriber’s name, if it was collected on the form. |
| Status | The subscriber’s status on that list. Can be Confirmed or Unsubscribed. |
| Subscription date | Date and time the person registered. |
A person moves to Unsubscribed status when they click the unsubscribe link included in any campaign. Nevent honours that unsubscribe automatically.
