# Who unsubscribed after your campaign?

This guide explains how to see the contacts who unsubscribed after receiving your campaign, what a high unsubscribe rate means, and what Nevent does with that data. About 3 minutes.

## Before you start

You need at least one campaign in **Sent** status. If you haven't launched one yet, follow [How to create your first campaign](/en/campaigns/create-your-first-campaign/) first.

## Step 1: Open the Unsubscribes section

In the side menu, click **My campaigns**, then the name of a sent campaign.

Inside the report, click **Unsubscribes** in the left-hand menu.

## Step 2: Read the unsubscribe data

This section shows four cards with the unsubscribe data for this send.

The data you'll see is:

- **Unsubscribes:** the number of contacts who clicked the unsubscribe link in the email.
- **Unsubscribe rate:** the percentage of unsubscribes over delivered emails.
- **Spam complaints:** contacts who marked your email as unwanted in their email client.
- **Complaint rate:** the percentage of complaints over delivered emails.

Below the cards is the **Unsubscribe reasons** table, which gathers the reasons contacts gave when unsubscribing, if they provided any.

## How to interpret unsubscribes

An unsubscribe is always useful information, not necessarily bad news.

An unsubscribe rate below **0.5%** is healthy. It indicates your audience is receptive to the type of content you send.

If the rate goes above **1%**, it's worth reviewing:
- Send frequency: you might be sending too often.
- Segmentation: the audience might not be the right fit for that type of message.
- Content: an overly promotional email for an audience expecting informational content can drive unsubscribes.

Spam complaints are more sensitive. Keeping them below **0.1%** is key to protecting your sender reputation.

## What Nevent does with contacts who unsubscribe

When a contact clicks the unsubscribe link, Nevent automatically marks them as unsubscribed and excludes them from all future sends across your organisation. You don't need to do anything manually.

This is a legal requirement: any contact who asks not to receive further emails must be excluded from your future sends.

If you want to see the full list of unsubscribed contacts, click **View unsubscribed** below the unsubscribe count.

:::note[Note]
Unsubscribed contacts don't disappear from your fan database. They simply won't receive any more campaigns. You can see them in the fan's profile, where their subscription status will show.
